Board Game Definition
A board game is a game that involves counters or pieces moved or placed on a pre-marked surface or board, according to a set of rules. Games can be based on pure strategy, chance (e.g. rolling dice), or a mixture of the two, and usually have a goal that a player aims to achieve. Early board games represented a battle between two armies, and most current board games are still based on defeating opposing players in terms of counters, winning position, or accrual of points (often expressed as in-game currency).

Most board games involve both luck and strategy. But an important feature of them is the amount of randomness and luck involved, as opposed to skill

ABSTRACT and NON-ABSTRACT(THEME-BASED) BOARD GAMES

There are many different types and styles of board games. Most board games nowadays contains a fictional theme, or designed based on historical events. Board games containing no-theme are categorized as ABSTRACT, such as Checkers and Chess. Most abstract games usually are two-players-only, and are simple to learn in minutes.

COMPLEXITY AND DIFFICULTY LEVEL OF GAMES

Games are usually rated for playing for people of different ages, ranging from 3 to 15+. The older the suggested ages, usually means a more adult-oriented theme, and the heavier the learning of game rules. Simpler games are usually more abstract and can master in a matter of minutes. Complex games usually requires reading a somewhat thick booklet rules, containing 10 to dozens of pages. Many people claims that complex games usually gives a higher satisfaction experience, and a better long term re-playability.
